EOYDC Track Club Highlights 2000

The EOYDC Track Team was well represented at the United States Olympic Track and Field Trials this summer. The meet, which ran from July 14th to July 23rd, 2000, featured the top track and field athletes in the United States. This meet was to select the team which will represent the U.S. in the Olympic games in Sydney, Australia, in September. The top 3 finishers in each event qualified to represent our country in the games.

Just 19 years old, Tania Woods, finished 5th in her heat of the women’s 200 meter dash. Last year, Tania was the #1 ranked 200 meter sprinter (and #4 ranked at 100 meters) in the world under age 20. This was also her first Olympic Trials competition and her first senior national championship.

Miesha Marzell, 25, finished 6th in the semi-final of the women’s 800 meter run, but came in second in her first round heat running a season best of 2:03.06 - one of the top 10 times in the U.S. this year.

Bisa Grant, who just turned 24, finished 8th overall in the women’s 100 m hurdles finals setting two personal bests in the process. At 13.04 seconds and 12.95 seconds, she is ranked as not only one of the best hurdlers in the U.S. but the world. This was Bisa’s first time in the Olympic Trials.

Overall, this was a very strong performance for a young group of athletes, and we have much to look forward to at the next Olympic Trials in 2004.

Congratulations!
