I started here at the E.O.Y.D.C as a youth leader in the summer of 2005 and stayed on to become a Homework Tutor. I was shy and unsure of how to work, this was my first job.

As time went on I felt more like family than an employee. The E.O.Y.D.C staff helped me out on a lot of things working or not. Because of my position as a youth leader, my job gave me more confidence and I began to be more out spoken. Because of the changes I made during the summer I made Youth Leader of the Year. Now I feel like I can take on any task that comes my way.

Here at the E.O.Y.D.C I look up to a lot of people: like Ms. Regina, who can help me with whatever I need; if she can’t, she is quick to find someone that can; Sister Jackie who helped me get this job, and whenever I need a prayer she calls on God to give me a blessing; my new friend and current supervisor, Cierra who is there for me day and night when I need someone to talk too.

I have met so many people here at the Center; like Brian Shaw and some NFL football players from the Raiders. In the summer Ms. Regina took me and five other young ladies from the Center on a camping trip sponsored by Big City Mountaineers. It was a challenge for me in so many ways but as the trip went on I became stronger, mentally and physically.

The E.O.Y.D.C is a place that can change your life; it develops you into a great leader. I don’t know where I would be without my E.O.Y.D.C.!!!
