Jabari Scott

Hello my name is Jabari Scott and I am 21 years old. I started coming to the EOYDC when I was 11 years old. When I first came to the EOYDC I didn’t know much about the Center and what programs that they had to offer. Once I became apart of the EOYDC I joined the basketball program and played in the Black College League. That league was the best league I had ever played in. it was so exciting. My coaches were Kwame and Floyd. They were a catalyst for me in trying to become a better basketball player and young man.

The EOYDC helped me on and off the court with homework, school, and life. I attended workshops and NBA basketball games. I also met a lot of people through the EOYDC such as, Oakland street basketball legend Hook Mitchell, Gary Payton, Mark Curry, etc. To me the EOYDC is very helpful to youth in the Oakland community with all the different programs that they have for youth.

I graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland in 2004. I attended Job Corp on Treasure Island for graphic arts and security training. I then attend Merritt College for a year focusing on becoming an entrepreneur. Someday I plan on returning to college and get my a degree in business.

At the present time I am playing semi-pro football for the Richmond War Angles and also starting my own security business. I would like to thank Ms. Regina and the EOYDC staff for everything that they did for me and also for pointing me in the right direction.
