Spring Break Field Trip to the

Marine Science Center, Redwood City, CA

Located in the southwest corner of the San Francisco Bay, this program teaches children about marine ecosystems and how to gather data. The center actually uses all of the data collected.  Even though it was a nice spring day, it was very cold and windy there.  We got wet and muddy learning how to be marine scientists! WMarine Shark Measure.jpg (20718 bytes) The first thing we did was to drop a net off the pier and pull it to shore to gather different types of fish.  With 25 children and 8 adults we only caught one fish!   This was because the kids had been throwing rocks in the water when we got there, not knowing that we would be collecting fish from there.
