On January 13, 2007 hundreds of youth and more than 10 youth serving agencies came together to showcase the talents and resources available to Oakland’s youth. Hosted at the East Oakland Youth Development Center, a myriad of agencies demonstrated interactive sports and arts activities, as well as provided information on programming available to youth year round.

In addition, an entertainment stage allowed youth to demonstrate talent in spoken word, dance, gospel, rap, instrumental, vocal and hip hop genres.

A partial sampling of the organizations and activities included:
Babe Ruth
Bay Area Region Nutrition Network
Boys & Girls Club
Boy Scouts of America
Cub Scouts
EOYDC
Elmhurst Public Library
Children’s Fairyland
Junior Center of Arts and Science
Museum of Children’s Art
YMCA Urban Services
Youth Uprising
Mayor Ronald V. Dellums attended and addressed the youth and their families on his vision, hopes and dreams for Oakland.

Moreover, youth “I dream an Oakland” works were on display in the form of poems, essays, short stories and illustrations; such as the one shown above.
